Multidimensional Vulnerability Index

Seychelles as a high income country isn’t able to access many sources of financing other states vulnerable to climate change can access. But that doesn’t mean Seychelles is any less vulnerable than any other Small Island Developing State (SIDS). The Multidimensional Vulnerability Index (MVI) is a new rubric for analyzing the needs of states in the context of global climate change. In the words of the President of the Republic, the Honorable Wavel Ramkalawan says, “It is important to recognize that SIDS face a set of complex social, environmental and economic development challenges. If anything, these complexities highlight why SIDS are more vulnerable than income data alone may suggest.”
